avoidance of studying
Problems with test taking can be so frightening that a student simply doesn't dare to confront them. He puts the tests out of his mind or postpones studying/test taking. The reason may be that such a person links achievement to self esteem ("If I fail I am a stupid idiot").
Another possibility is that the anxiety he experiences is viewed as an unacceptable weakness, which must be ignored and not be given in to. These are acquired ideas about yourself and achievement. Do not regard them as absolute truths. It is a point of view and nothing more.
