You will probably already have come across the following advice in this programme: Face up to your problems. Denial or a forced attempt to do or think the opposite of what you usually do or think, generally does not work. If it does help, continue to do so, but you are certainly an exception.

But what would you do if you are hindered during your test by

  1. distracting thoughts that have nothing to do with the exam, e.g. "Did I lock the door?"
  2. negative thoughts that distract and hinder your work, e.g. "I can't do it", or "I haven't enough time".
